Over the course of his long career, Moreno Torroba composed many works, both in traditional Spanish forms and for the concert hall. He is often associated with the zarzuela, a traditional Spanish musical form. He achieved his greatest success in the 1930s. Moreno Torroba helped introduce the zarzuela to international audiences.
Personally, Federico Moreno-Torroba is one of my favorite composers. The famous "Sonatina" is on the top of the selections I play in concerts and gigs. Ocho Estampas Españolas, however, was a great success in many events at CSU Chico. From left to right: Tobin Roye, Matt Fish, Max Stout, Luciano Marazzo.
