INTRODUCING

LUCIANO MARAZZO

Classical Guitarist & Lyric Tenor

“Dynamic - Accurate - Dangerously Expressive"

Luciano Marazzo is a classically trained lyric tenor and classical guitarist whose life’s focus is music as a complete concept as performance, education, philosophy merge. With deep roots in Bel-Canto and a love for the expressive depth of guitar, his concerts blend the elegance of Italian Bel-Canto, the storytelling of lieder, and the intimacy of solo guitar works.

As a published author, Luciano explores music not just as art through coaching, but as a discipline that reveals character, truth, and beauty. His upcoming work, Music in the Artificial Inferno, is an ambitious ethnomusicological exploration of music in our digital age.

The Classical Guitarist

Luciano Marazzo is a classical guitarist whose repertoire spans centuries—from the refined intricacies of Renaissance and Baroque masters like Leopold Weiss and J.S. Bach to the vibrant, emotive works of contemporary composers such as Astor Piazzolla and Andrew York. While he explores a broad spectrum of styles, Luciano is especially drawn to the music of J.S. Bach, Argentine composers like Piazzolla, and folkloric pieces from the countryside, including the heartfelt works of Eduardo Falú. With over two hours of memorized repertoire and exceptional sight-reading skills, Luciano is known for quickly assimilating new works with precision and expression. His solo repertoire includes works by Mauro Giuliani, Francisco Tárrega, Federico Moreno Torroba (whose vocal pieces he also performs), Filippo Gragnani, Agustín Barrios Mangoré, and Heitor Villa-Lobos.

Luciano thrives in collaborative settings. He has performed extensively in duos, trios, and quartets, including Eduardo Angulo’s 8 Estampas for guitar quartet. Among his favorite collaborations are those with violinists, where the interplay of timbres and expressive dialogue create a rich musical experience. He currently performs in a violin and guitar duo featuring works by Piazzolla, Monti (Csárdás), and Vivaldi. In addition to his instrumental work, Luciano brings unique insight to the art of vocal accompaniment. As a classically trained tenor, he understands the vocal instrument intimately and uses the guitar to sensitively support and enhance singers in performance—making him a sought-after collaborator in both solo and ensemble settings.

The Lyric Tenor

Luciano Marazzo is a lyric tenor known for his full, expressive range, including a confident and resonant high C—essential for any distinguished tenor. His operatic repertoire balances both serious and comical roles, always seeking to bring emotional depth or spirited charm to the stage. While he tends to avoid the heaviest dramatic parts, Luciano excels in iconic roles such as the Duke of Mantua in Rigoletto, Nemorino in Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore, and Alfredo in Verdi’s La Traviata. In the world of oratorio, Luciano is particularly devoted to Handel’s Messiah, which he considers a cornerstone of his sacred repertoire—especially around Easter. He also performs works like Bizet’s Agnus Dei and seasonal favorites such as The Holy Night, celebrating the spirit and warmth of the Christmas season.

Luciano’s bel canto repertoire emphasizes both Italian and German traditions. He is drawn to the expressive brilliance of Bellini, Donizetti, and Verdi, as well as the lyrical depth of Beethoven, Schubert, and Robert Schumann. His Spanish repertoire includes the evocative works of Manuel de Falla and selections from the zarzuela tradition. While Luciano has explored French mélodies for artistic variety, his passion lies in performing modern English-language compositions—especially those by living composers. His enthusiasm for new music has led to collaborations with contemporary voices such as Dominic Dousa, whose Songs of Sea and Life he has performed alongside other innovative works that expand and challenge the traditional vocal canon.
